Wesley is getting a ride to soccer practice in his uncle Rob’s new car, which Wesley had helped him buy with some great advice about credit. Suddenly, Uncle Rob accidentally backs into a tree! No one is hurt, but Uncle Rob can’t afford to fix his car because he doesn’t have car insurance. Puzzled about insurance and what it is, Wesley begins asking questions. Fortunately for him, NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis is teaching kids about finance at the local children’s club. With Mr. Davis’s help, Wesley learns what a premium is, how a policy works, what deductibles are, and how many things can be insured. After seeing Uncle Rob’s experiences, Wesley decides that having insurance for his lawn mower would be a good idea in case something bad happens to it. After all, that’s how he earns his money! But will his insurance pay out when he breaks his lawn mower in an accident? 1. Language: English. Narrator: Katie Dehnart. The classic film version of Lorraine Hansberry’s revelatory drama—starring Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee—newly restored. LORRAINE HANSBERRY’s A Raisin in the Sun was the first play by a black woman to be on Broadway and is now an immortal part of the theatrical canon. Two years after its premiere, the production came to the screen, directed by DANIEL PETRIE. The original stars—including SIDNEY POITIER (In the Heat of the Night) and RUBY DEE (Do the Right Thing)—reprise their roles as members of an African American family living in a cramped Chicago apartment, in this deeply resonant tale of dreams deferred. Following the death of their patriarch, the Youngers await a life insurance check they hope will change their circumstances, but tensions arise over how best to use the money. Vividly rendering Hansberry’s intimate observations on generational conflict and housing discrimination, Petrie’s film captures the high stakes, shifting currents, and varieties of experience within black life in mid‐century America. Features: New 4K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack Interview from 1961 with playwright and screenwriter Lorraine Hansberry New interview with Imani Perry, author of Looking for Lorraine, on the real‐life events on which the play is based Episode of Theater Talk from 2002 featuring producer Philip Rose and actors Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis Excerpt from The Black Theatre Movement: From “A Raisin in the Sun” to the Present, a 1978 documentary, with a new introduction by director Woodie King Jr. New interview with film scholar Mia Mask, editor of Poitier Revisited Trailer PLUS: An essay by scholar Sarita Cannon

Once I graduated college, my life fell into a rut - my father's rut. The only way out of the rut was excitement. During the day, I worked with my dad at his insurance agency. He knew I was bored in the office and sent me to take photos of insurance losses. I also took pictures of expensive items that his clients insured. Once I saw the valuables and how carelessly they were kept, a seed began to grow in my mind. I fantasized about breaking in and taking the items. It was like a romance, and I was intrigued enough to look for easy entry of the client's properties. I knew if they had dogs, security systems, and deadbolts. I learned their schedules as I cased their homes. Once the situation was right, I entered the homes and took what was insured. I didn't want to harm them physically or financially. I was drunk on adrenaline. All the wrong things I did went against my upbringing. The crimes made me feel like I had a secret identity, like a comic book villain. The difference was that there was no super hero to catch me. I was the one who would follow my own crimes and help the victims with their claims. I was the good guy and the bad guy. At first I thought the expensive items interested me, but soon I realized it was the thrill of the narrow escape that had me hooked. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Bruce F. Davis.
